The Cookies This Site Sets
A cookie is a small piece of text this site asks your browser to keep and to send back with your next request. This site sets three of them, and each one is there to carry out something you have just asked it to do.
Reading this site sets none of them. They appear only when you do something that needs one: sign in, create an account, submit one of the sign-in, account, password, sample request or quote request forms, change your cart, or follow a password-reset or email-verification link. If you only read, your browser is asked to store nothing at all.
__Host-sso_sessionis set when you sign in or create an account. It holds the sign-in keys our account system issued you, together with your account reference, your first name so that a page can greet you, whether your email address has been confirmed, and how many different products were in your cart when we last checked, so that the page header can show it. It lasts 30 days if you chose "Keep me signed in"; otherwise your browser is asked to keep it only for the current browsing session.__Host-sso_formis set when you submit a sign-in, account, password, sample request or quote request form and the page comes back - because something needs correcting, because the service was busy, or to keep your address in the field when we have just sent you a link - and when you add to or change your cart, to confirm what changed or to say why it couldn't be made. It holds what you had already typed, so that the page can hand it back rather than ask you to type it again - never your password - and, for your cart, which line changed and the product's name. It lasts one minute at most.__Host-sso_grantis set when you follow a password-reset or email-verification link of the kind we send. It holds the one-time code from that link, so that the code does not sit in your address bar or in your browsing history. It lasts one hour, or until it is used.
None of these is used for analytics or for advertising. None of them records what you look at, none builds a profile of you, none follows you to any other website, and none is passed to anyone else.
Your password is never put in a cookie - not the password, not a copy of it, and not its length.
What the three cookies hold is encrypted before your browser is asked to store it, so what is kept on your computer can be read only by this site's own server. All three are also marked so that they cannot be read by scripts running in the page, are sent only over an encrypted connection, and cannot be set or read by any other website.
We do not ask you to accept these cookies, and we do not show a cookie banner. Each of them exists only to do the thing you have just asked this site to do, none is used to track you or to advertise to you, and so there is nothing here to opt in or out of. You can delete them at any time through your browser's settings, which will sign you out on that browser. Signing out removes the first of them and asks our account system to end your session on every device where you are signed in.
